Vector and Photoshop Tutorials ICYMI!Hi Dearhearts!
From time to time I'll pop by with links to my work elsewhere, as I understand there's still a number of users who have just followed this (now) empty gallery as well as users who followed me for years and likely miss a bunch of journal entries due to crazy full inboxes (me too!).
Firstly, here's the last journal entry that explains why I left dA.
Secondly, here's lovely updates of my artwork elsewhere!
Feel free to share these links around, as they contain my backlink while helps with analytics for Tuts+ and a possible boost for me personally.
Enjoy, and thanks for the support!
Leaving deviantArt: Goodbye, Dearhearts! As I'm not really active here and just don't get the site much anymore (in addition to art theft issues with myself and friends over the past 8 years never ending), I've decided it's time to move on to greener pastures.
I've put my work in storage (so it all still exists, just in case I need to bring it out and prove ownership again thanks to publishing dates) and may stop by from time to time to check out others' work, comment, or announce news when applicable.
It's been mostly lovely and I've met such brilliant artists here over the years. Many that I call really good friends. Now that we're all either into our 30s or looking at them (two years left -- feeling so Joey Tribbiani on this: http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lh8rpt0a4d1qf7nz5o1_1280.jpg) the climate here isn't the same for us as it used to be. It's a young person's haven, where the hep cats go to doodle. And it's always been that way. Just haven't got the time to devote to a community that isn't something work-relate
Instagram, Tumblr, Twitter, and New WebsiteAhoy hoy!
I'm not here as often as I used to be, and even so it's to drop a couple things in the gallery and head on out.
As such, you can find my more active below:
New website being worked up. It's live at http://www.acrylicana.com, but missing a great deal of content.
I'll update with new tutorials as they're published.
Vote for me in April's Vector Battle!Hey! So I know a lot of people don't read journals anymore, so hopefully this is seen. My latest tutorial is a part of a vector battle over on Tuts+. It pits me and the fabulous Yulia Sokolova against each other with the theme of "diamonds/crystals".
Check out the voting info here: http://design.tutsplus.com/articles/vector-battle-round-one-diamonds-start--cms-20523
And my tutorial can be seen, in full, here: http://design.tutsplus.com/tutorials/how-to-design-a-gem-swapping-mobile-game-ui-in-illustrator--cms-19862

Tutorial Requests: They are OpenHi!
If there's something drawing or vector-related you'd like to learn, and I haven't done a tutorial on it yet, please comment here (or note or email) with your request.
Whether it's a text treatment style, specific artwork of mine you'd like to learn to create, overall style of art, or specific tools/effects/etc., let me know.
Print Requests - Society6 Shop OpenAhoy hoy For prints of my work, please refer to my Society6 shop: http://society6.com/MaryWinkler
I'll offer prints through Etsy again when I can, but it'll likely be after the new year (or later, depending on when I can spring for a new thing of ink -- awfully expensive).
If you've got a specific request, let me know.

Protect yourself against fraudAlthough, as an active member of the community, it's nearly impossible to have missed this huge issue, I think it's very important to warn people for this.
What happened is a large case fraud in which apparently one user (under multiple names) scammed several members of DeviantArt community. Leaving some people as much as $3000 in debt!!! Money they, most likely, never see back.
Even though the user is banned by DeviantArt now, there's no reason why it won't happen again.
After all, the problem is caused by a loophole in PayPal's rules. So basically everybody that's using PayPal for its business (and that's a lot of us) is at risk.
People doing commissions
People selling adoptables
To understand where all of this comes from, it's first of all important to know what a PayPal chargeback actually is.
This video offers a proper explanation of what chargeback is, and what it should

About the Art Book:
Aaaaaaaand i am officially announcing that i opened pre-orders for my art book
The pre-order stage serves also as an order stage, it's from August 20 2014 to September 20 2014, and it's the only time you can buy my art book. It won't be available in any online store. I will keep 30-50 books to sell at Romanian conventions which are Nijikon, Comic Con and Otaku festival. So if you're romanian or intend to go to these convention then that's the only other time you can buy my art book
Actually this is where the idea to make an art book came from in the first place. To have something that sums up my work since i started digital art, at my stand at conventio
Art and not giving upDear, deviantart fellow artists
As artists we are constantly self-aware and seek for improvement and support. But there are times when it feels like everything falls apart, when things go wrong and doubts overwhelm us.
But we have to stay strong and continue.
Here are some of my thoughts about the topic and I hope that they might be helpful.
No one likes to fail. Yet, when it happens, we learn so much. For example – my first “inspiring” journal series where such a failure. But I kept going, as I have always had. As long as I can motivate, help and inspire others, through my journals or art, that’s what keeps me going. Also – things can go wrong all the time – the painting software could crash, ink can get accidentally spilled or It’s possible to unintentionally ruin the painting. It happens. Go through the struggle;

Art / Story / Comic Contest!
Ok, its time for an another contest. It have been some months since the last one, and im sorry for that, that goes to all my followers. Hopefully will I get more active again now. I did think for a long time for the theme for this contest, and I wanted something that's not used to much, but at the same time something everyone can use as an idea for their entry. I hope everyone like it. Its always hard to make a prize list to, that everyone is happy with. Some smaller prizes, and more winners, or a bigger prize, but less winners. Some people thinks "... why should I, I gonna lose anyway.. But wait, as much as 10 entries wins a prize, maybe i should join after all!," and others think "... Only 20$, no

Glitch's Clothing Design Contest (USD Prizes) Introduction
It was nearing time for the new term to begin, and as always, Glitch wanted to change his outfit...
After all, that one got a little wrecked in the tournament. Oops.
And why not? He would be earning his degree in Elementalism the next term, and who wouldn't want to look absolutely STUNNING for graduation? Surely not him, as looking into obtaining interesting clothing for graduation was a high priority.
This is a drawing contest where you design a new outfit for Glitch, the elementalism student teacher of :iconotherworlde:! He tends to change his outfit often and he's looking for a couple new ones to add to his closet. Therefore, your task -- if you choose to accept it -- is to design a new outfit for Glitch to proudly wear in the next term, when he plans to earn his academy degree.
Simply draw Glitch in an outfit of your design and you
